The cries and struggle of the children of the martyrs of 1971
On 19 May, 2017 the 'Center for Genocide-Torture and Liberation War Studies' organized a national seminar at BMA Auditorium in Khulna. Dr Nuzhat Chowdhury; daughter of martyr intellectual Dr. Alim Chowdhury, Mr. Asif Munier; son of martyr intellectual Munier Choudhury, Touhid Reza Noor; son of martyr intellectual Journalist Sirajuddin Hossen, Md. Sumon Zahid; son of martyr intellectual journalist Selina Parvin and Dr. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, Professor of History, Rajshahi University were present as speakers on the seminar titled ‘cries and struggles of the children of the martyrs of 1971’. Dr. Muntassir Mamoon, President of the ‘1971: Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Trust’, Presided over the seminar. Dr. Sheikh Baharul Alam, the Secretary of the trust, made the welcome speech. Mr. Shankar Kumar Mallick, Associate Professor of Government BL College played the role of the anchor on the seminar. At the seminar, they described their personal experiences during the Liberation War. The children of the martyrs described the agony and sorrow of losing their parents, and their extreme struggles and pains of growing up after the war. Dr. Mahbubur Rahman shed light on the immense loss grieved by the Bengali people who lost their most valiant sons. In this seminar, the president described about the new struggles and wars that have been waged to eradicate the killers and the betrayers in post-liberation Bangladesh in his speech. The seminar ended by the urging towards the new generation to identify the killers and betrayers of the Liberation War. About 200 people attended the seminar including prominent people, teachers, and students. Among them, Panchanan Biswas, Member of Parliament of Khulna District (Khulna-1) and teachers of different disciplines of Khulna University were notable.
