A two-day international conference was held in Dhaka with the participation of researchers, experts and journalists from eight countries with the aim of expanding and promoting research on the War of Liberation. Minister of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor inaugurated the conference at the Bangla Academy's Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium on Friday, September 28, at 10 am. Artist Hashem Khan delivered the welcome address at the inauguration. Bangabandhu Chair Professor Syed Anwar Hossain presented the keynote paper at the inaugural session. The two-day conference, organized by the 1971: Genocide-Torture Archive and Museum Trust, was open to everyone. 26 researchers, experts and journalists from eight countries attended the conference. The two-day conference had a total of six academic sessions. Renowned writer Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, Indian Professor Jayant Kumar Roy, Director General of Bangla Academy Shamsuzzaman Khan; the president of the Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee Shahriar Kabir, secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed attended the session. The conference also highlighted the importance that the genocide of Bangladesh should receive international recognition in the history of genocide.
